I had been ruminating on this new project or so-called experiment, ‘Men with Sole’, featuring photos of men with striking shoes who (I believe) know how to dress well. They have a striking but unique style that is clearly accentuated with their shoes. Yes…This is my opinion so far BUT with an admiration for luxury men’s shoes (hello Crockett and Jones!), it will be interesting to learn what shoes men are actually wearing by turning the camera and asking a few non invasive questions. Of course, similarly intriguing is their response and enthusiasm OR NOT.
So far, the three men I randomly asked for photos were more than glad to take part. I would like to keep this simple. Three questions > First Name ? Where they are from/live? (as in NY we often encounter visitors) What designer are your shoes? Okay. It can be rightfully assumed that I would politely look at the shoe myself and even ask to see the bottom and touch the leather!
While men are often not known to have as many shoes as women, they can have strong opinions about the shoes they choose to wear and present a signature style that, very much significant to their look. This can be true whether they wear almost the same thing everyday or are a bit more eclectic in their choices. After introducing the idea to photograph men and their shoes to two men a few weeks ago, one of them could not help but affirm how much he dislikes square toe shoes and will never wear them! He could have been the men’s shoe police! Unfortunately it was too dark and I did not take his photo.
Oxfords, boots, athletic shoes, loafers and so on…. I look forward to finding out some specific designers men are wearing and why and how they wear them whether for business, leisure or both. I mean this could be a bit fun too! Why not!? I am curious to see what some of the men reading may say if they wear similar shoes or whether they have opinions. Either way, women will be entertained and will have their favorite ‘models’ !

What I like about this is that while these shoes are not so high end, these oxfords are sharp and the laces add a nice accent. Shoes do matter and he wore them well! A pressed shirt can make up for a pair of ripped jeans. He said they were comfortable too!
